    Tonight we will have a short service followed by two periods of Zazen with an interval of Kinhin (5 minutes of slow walking in between). We will conclude by chanting the refuges in Pali. Please feel welcome to stay on zoom if you are able to share greetings with the sangha.

    Born in Ohio and raised in Kona, the Rev. Jiko Nakade has been the 12th resident minister and first woman minister of the Daifukuji Soto Mission since 2004. She is a graduate of the Departments of Religion and Japanese Language at the University of Hawaii and studied at Komazawa University in Tokyo. She is the student of the Reverend Ryuji Tamiya of Niigata, Japan and a graduate of the Hawaii Soto Shu Ministers Training Program. She grew up attending Daifukuji. Her grandparents along with their 11 children ran the Oshima family grocery store located a few miles from the temple. Later, her father, his 4 brothers and their spouses operated the business. At age 19 years she spent 2 months at the Aichi Senmon Nisodo monastery of Aoyama Roshi.
